About Standard Machine

Founded in 1967 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and acquired by Timken in 2013, Standard Machine is part of the Timken Power Systems division. We design and manufacture high-quality parts for industries such as mining, oil and gas, aerospace, and more, under the Hamilton Gear brand.

Role Overview

Reporting to the TPS Canada National Sales Manager, the Sales Manager - Quebec will understand our value proposition and provide tailored solutions to mining customers, focusing on open gearings, replacement parts, and gearboxes. The role requires bilingual proficiency in French and English, technical expertise, and comprehensive industrial sales experience.

Ideal Candidate

  • 10+ years of technical/trade/professional experience in industrial equipment manufacturing.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, especially in power transmissions and gearing.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and French.
  • Willingness to travel at least 50% of the time within the territory.
  • Experience in sales of custom industrial rotating equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate sales through technical product support and customer engagement.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction and develop new client relationships.
  • Support customer growth via knowledge sharing and education.
  • Gather customer feedback to improve offerings.
  • Assess customer needs and develop tailored solutions.
  • Ensure timely delivery by monitoring shipments.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and planning teams.
  • Identify market trends and adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Develop regional sales and marketing plans for Quebec.
  • Travel to client sites, attend trade shows, and participate in business development activities.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Progressive sales experience in industry-specific environments.
  • High energy, adaptable, confident, and positive attitude.
  • Ability to understand complex pricing and bid processes.
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of mining industry trends.

Educational Background

  • Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Degree, CAD/CAM Technologist Diploma, or Journeyman certification in Machining, Welding, or Industrial Mechanics.
  • Experience with ERP systems like SAP and CRM software.
  • Sales training is an asset but not mandatory.
