Job Summary

Entrepreneurial and passionate about selling a sports and recreational experience with a truly differentiated competitive advantage, the Sales Manager develops and executes sales strategies, manages customer relationships, and oversees sales processes within their Sports Complex. They lead the Sales and Events team to increase revenue and provide a best-in-class recreational customer experience.

The Sales Manager is responsible for identifying and generating new leads, conducting local market analysis and competitor trend assessments, acquiring new customers, growing and retaining existing customers, and implementing effective sales strategies that drive revenue growth. They work closely with marketing and operations colleagues to identify new opportunities and align strategies that improve overall sales performance in their sports complex.

Accountabilities

This Role Is Accountable For

  • Community Programs & Event Sales planning and execution
  • Managing 3rd Party contracts
  • Sports Complex Surface flow management in collaboration with the General Manager and support from the Director of Sales
  • Development & implementation of the sports complex marketing plan with support from the Director of Sales
  • Maximizing, monitoring, and reporting on Ice/Surface Utilization
  • Generating leads and maintaining sales materials that are on-brand, up-to-date, and monitored daily
  • Creating surface booking contracts with clear terms and obtaining signatures
  • Analyzing sales data and market trends to identify opportunities and areas for improvement
  • Ensuring compliance with company sales policies and processes as outlined in the Sales Playbook
  • Collecting all outstanding account receivables

Qualifications and Education

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business, Marketing, and/or Recreation
  • Completion of APQ and SCQ training is an asset

Abilities, Attributes, and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of sales experience within a sport and/or recreational environment
  • Leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and manage a team towards strategic goals
  • Critical thinking skills to provide solutions, with strong communication, consultation, and presentation abilities
  • Customer service focus, with strong follow-up skills and tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to handle objections, navigate business obstacles, and close sales
  • Basic accounting or budgeting experience, including expense management, revenue tracking, and identifying opportunities and weaknesses
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, CRM, and Database Management
