Automation West Technology is a design and manufacturing firm specializing in valve automation and related controls, including pneumatic air, high-pressure gas, hydraulic, electric controls, and telemetry. AWT offers consulting, technical design services, and engineering for natural gas, oil pipeline, and station valve automation. Our technology in electro-hydraulic automated valves is also utilized in marine, offshore, mining, and other heavy industrial pipeline applications, including failsafe, SCADA, and network automation.

General Description

The Valve Automation & Control Specialist manages all aspects of sales, including quoting, customer service, industry networking, and closing deals, while assisting in drafting and designing processes. This role provides technical and commercial support for the Valve Automation and Controls (VAC) Division of Automation West Technologies Ltd. (AWT) in BC. The position involves developing sales and design expertise by assisting management with specific customers in industries related to valve automation, process controls, and pipeline technology developed by AWT VAC.

Responsibilities

  • Review of technical and commercial bids and RFQs
  • Review pneumatic and hydraulic fluid power circuits and schematics
  • Specify and select process valves
  • Specify valve automation, actuation, and controls
  • Prepare and review technical documentation for automated valves and controls
  • Collaborate with project management and assembly teams on valve automation projects
  • Provide client support and resolve technical issues via email, phone, and other electronic means
  • Communicate with customers to gather relevant application information for electro-hydraulics, including power units and control components
  • Create final quotes with supporting drawings and specifications
  • Finalize concepts with customers and conduct site visits as needed
  • Support project development and marketing efforts
  • Conduct market research for potential opportunities
  • Create marketing campaigns and workflows in HubSpot
  • Maintain a professional company image

Education & Work Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of hydraulic design experience (preferred)
  • Technical background in mechanical, electrical, and fluid power systems such as hydraulics or pneumatics
  • Over 3 years of direct external sales experience
  • Professional demeanor, selling style, and appearance
  • Bilingual in English and French (asset)
  • Proactive self-starter capable of working independently and in teams
  • Attention to detail in technical and commercial documentation, including version control
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines independently
