Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Entry‑Level Sales Development Representative in Calgary to build trusted client relationships within the engineering and sciences space. You will target accounts, qualify opportunities, and drive growth while collaborating with recruiting to place top talent.

The role begins with a paid 24‑week training period at a base salary of $60,000, followed by a base of $75,000 plus commission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience in customer service, leadership, and/or sales.
• Strong desire for a career in business-to-business/relationship-based sales.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Sense of urgency, excellent presentation skills and a high standard of character and professionalism.
• Strong propensity to learn as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Serve as talent solutions and services subject matter expert for respective territory.
• Establish and adjust a list of target accounts and prospects using internal and external resources.
• Identify, develop, and manage new and existing customer relationships leveraging CRMs and external networking tools.
• Conduct well-prepared face-to-face meetings with decision makers; qualify business and create value for clients.
• Increase sales and market share through assigned and newly generated accounts.
• Negotiate bill rates and terms to maximize profitability and align with market standards.
• Build and maintain relationships within accounts by providing quality consultants and marketing resumes.
• Lead client meetings and consultant lunches as part of sales activities.
• Collaborate with recruiting to identify top talent for client needs.

You Will

• Serve as talent solutions and services subject matter expert for respective territory
• Establish (and adjust when necessary) a list of target accounts and prospects using all available internal and external resources.
• Identify, develop, and manage new and existing customer relationships by leveraging resources including but not limited to CRMs and external networking tools.
• Conduct well‑prepared face to face meetings with decision makers; get results by asking appropriate questions that qualify business and take advantage of opportunities to create value and meet client needs.
• Increase sales and market share through assigned and newly generated accounts.
• Maximize profitability by effectively negotiating bill rates and terms; ensure that direct labor rates are in line with market standards.
• Build and maintain relationships within accounts by providing quality consultants; proactively market resumes of ideal candidates.
• Perform sales related activities including, but not limited to leading meetings at client sites and client manager, and consultant lunches.
• Partner with the recruiting team in identifying top Sciences and Engineering talent to fulfill client needs.

  • Paid 24‑week training period to start with a base salary of $60,000
  • Post‑training base salary of $75,000 after hourly paid training period
  • Our top 10% of account managers earned an average of $105,000 in year one, $203,000 in year two, and $266,000 in year five
