The Insurance Broker – Producer is responsible for generating new business across both personal and commercial insurance lines. Operating in a commission-based environment, the Producer will identify opportunities through various sales channels—including walk-ins, referrals, digital leads, and community networking—and provide tailored insurance solutions to meet client needs. This role requires a driven, entrepreneurial mindset, strong industry knowledge, and a commitment to building long-term client relationships across both personal and commercial portfolios.
What does the Broker Producer Sales Broker do?
- Proactively generate personal and commercial insurance leads through digital outreach, referrals, networking, and community engagement.
- Conduct needs assessments for both individuals and businesses, recommending customized insurance programs based on risk exposure, budget, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present competitive quotes using comparative rating tools and insurer portals for personal lines (home, auto, recreational) and commercial lines (property, liability, auto, contractors, retail, professional services, etc.).
- Negotiate with underwriters and insurers to secure optimal terms for clients while balancing pricing and coverage.
- Close new business and ensure all documentation and data is captured accurately within the Broker Management System (BMS).
- Maintain a deep understanding of insurer products, underwriting guidelines, and industry trends across both personal and commercial markets.
- Serve as a trusted advisor for personal and commercial clients, offering guidance throughout policy terms and responding to changes in coverage needs.
- Coordinate with the Corporate Account Management team for servicing support or manage policy servicing independently.
- Identify cross-sell opportunities between personal and commercial lines to enhance client value and retention.
- Maintain a consistent follow-up process to ensure client satisfaction, accuracy of coverage, and renewal readiness.
- Ensure all personal and commercial transactions meet internal compliance protocols, RIBO standards, and insurer underwriting guidelines.
- Submit complete and well-documented applications to minimize underwriting issues and reduce turnaround time.
- Proactively manage E&O risk by practicing ethical sales and maintaining detailed, accurate records.
- Stay up to date with market, carrier, and regulatory developments affecting personal and commercial insurance.
- Collaborate with support teams and leadership to deliver a seamless client experience.
- Attend training sessions and obtain CE credits to enhance your product knowledge and sales effectiveness across both lines of business.

- Strong understanding of personal insurance products (home, auto, recreational) and ability to articulate their value to diverse clients.
- Effective use of Broker Management Systems for quoting, policy administration, and client file management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) to support proposal development, reporting, and client communication.
- Skilled in using comparative rating tools to deliver accurate and competitive insurance quotes.
- Maintains accurate records and ensures timely data entry in the brokerage management system to support compliance and reporting.
- Able to track sales metrics and conversion rates to measure pipeline health and inform growth strategies.
- Applies knowledge of compliance standards and licensing requirements to uphold regulatory and E&O standards.
- Comfortable using email, video calls, and digital platforms to engage clients and respond to inquiries.
- Prioritizes tasks and manages a busy sales pipeline efficiently and independently.
- Consistently puts the client’s needs first and develops solutions that are personalized, ethical, and value-driven.
- Demonstrates persistence, confidence, and a results-oriented mindset in achieving sales targets and acquiring new business.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience in insurance sales or a high-performing customer service environment
- Must hold an active RIBO license (Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario) in good standing
- Familiarity with personal insurance products and commercial insurance business.
- Proven ability to generate leads, build relationships, and close sales.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field an asset
- CAIB or CIP designation an asset
- Building a client base from the ground up is an asset.
- Demonstrated success in a commission-based or self-directed sales role an asset
- Experience using Broker Management Systems an asset
