Job summary

Royal Botanical Gardens is seeking a Part-Time Sales Associate for our Gift Shop. You will create a welcoming atmosphere, help customers with purchases, and manage transactions while assisting with opening/closing duties.

This role requires availability for evenings, weekdays, and weekends, including holiday periods, with an end date of April 16, 2027. Join a friendly team, handle inventory, and support store maintenance in a busy seasonal environment.

Qualifications

• Prior sales or customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to learn quickly and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Works well in a group setting and supports team goals.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; able to adapt to new software quickly.
• Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and during busy holiday periods.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with purchases and provide courteous, prompt service.
• Receive and stock new inventory; help with store upkeep and merchandising.
• Process transactions including cash, debit, and credit.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures and end-of-day cash reconciliation.
• Maintain a clean, welcoming gift shop environment.

Job description

The Position:

We seek a Part-Time Sales Associate to work in our Gift Shop and be responsible for creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere with prompt courteous customer service. Must be available to work evening, weekday, and weekend shifts.(Please note that this opportunity will not lead to a full-time role).

Start Date: October 19, 2026
End Date: April 16, 2027

Under the direction of the Gift Shop Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting customers with purchases, answering questions, offering suggestions

Responsibilities:

• Customer service, handling any problems that may arise
• Receiving new inventory
• Filing paperwork, keeping track of receipts
• Dealing with transactions involving cash, debit, and credit
• Assisting with opening and closing the store
• Store maintenance and upkeep

Requirements:

• Previous sales and customer service experience.
• Able to learn quickly and multitask
• Works well in a group environment
• Experience with Microsoft Office and Excel while being able to adapt to new programs quickly
• Must be able to work evenings, weekends, during Christmas season, and statutory holidays

Physical Requirements:

• Constant standing and walking
• Able to climb stairs and ladders
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
