Job description

The Role

The Technician Team Leader of Product Assurance Garage is responsible for overseeing technician tasks, communicating learnings to the team and stakeholders, and ensuring all work is completed efficiently. Strong leadership skills, specific knowledge in automotive diagnostics regardless of vehicle architecture, and a focus on job site health are critical for this role. The Technician Team Leader is responsible for developing training plans, monitoring technical tasks, working with customers and stakeholders, ordering supplies, fixing equipment or coordinating maintenance, and enforcing rules and regulations associated with the job site.

What You'll Do

  1. Collaborate with other technicians and service personnel to provide comprehensive vehicle repairs, ensuring effective use of time and resources.
  2. Responsible for shop floor throughput and presenting opportunities for improvement to leadership.
  3. Review failures and perform root cause analysis across various components.
  4. Diagnose and repair electrical systems in vehicles, including wiring, batteries, and electronic control units.
  5. Stay updated on the latest automotive technology and electrical systems to enhance skills and knowledge.
  6. Set up and execute tests for a variety of systems with applicable instruments.
  7. Make instrumentation adjustments and perform analyses and functional diagnoses.
  8. Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed on vehicles.
  9. Assist in testing prototypes and pilot components and assemblies.
  10. Serve as a technical consultant on the development of advanced technology-based solutions.
  11. Coordinate updates to embedded control unit software and hardware in development vehicles.
  12. Maintain workplace organization standards and apply lean principles.
  13. Track and manage inventory lists and GM-specific tools.
  14. Coordinate with the early build team to plan and execute vehicle retrofits.
