Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Safety Specialist to join our team! The incumbent will be responsible for review and implementation and monitoring of the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) programs. Responsible for providing advice on various safety aspects to all stakeholders, and for encouraging everyone to pursue safe work practices and to maintain safe conditions at their work sites. Investigates and prepares reports on accidents with an emphasis on prevention and/or recurrence.

What You'll Be Doing:

  1. Assists the Health Safety Security & Environment (HSSE) Section in developing/managing and implementing the job site safety programs.
  2. Inspects work area, construction sites, machinery, equipment and working conditions for compliance to Royal Commission standards and Procedures.
  3. Coordinates/Communicates with contractors, Construction Management to rectify/resolve HSSE issues.
  4. Liaise with contractors for corrective action for immediate implementation.
  5. Conducts audits/inspection and monitors the HSSE performance of all construction operations.
  6. Act on upon HSSE findings and follow-up actions as required.
  7. Initiates and supports accident investigations to minimize recurrence and prepares internal investigations and retains findings of these records.
  8. Assists HSSE Section in identifying and investigating elements of an accident: unsafe conditions and unsafe acts.
  9. Provides HSSE training to other engineers/inspectors.
  10. Document and communicate all unsafe acts and conditions.
  11. Review risk assessments, HSSE Plan and other HSSE documents.
  12. Attend various site HSSE related meetings.
  13. Carries out any additional duties within scope of responsibilities, as delegated.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  1. Bachelor's degree, preferably in Civil or Mech/Elect/Structural Engineering, or other similar.
  2. Minimum 8 years professional experience in the field of Health, Safety & Environment.
  3. Certified safety professional (CPS) or member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, or any other internationally recognized organization, is a plus.
  4. Strong knowledge of HSE industry practices and regulations.
  5. Requires computer literacy and capable to operate current computer safety programs.
  6. Strong English verbal and written communications skills is essential.
