We are looking for an experienced, skilled individual for the position of Canada Safety Specialist to work with multiple locations throughout Canada. This position would be responsible for:
Coordinating, promoting, and monitoring company-wide safety efforts.
Ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (the Act) and the Ontario Ministry of Labour requirements.
Cooperating and advising manufacturing and engineering representatives as new equipment, processes, and procedures are introduced to the organization.
Facilitating employee safety training and education.
Administering and improving company safety programs.
Maintaining up-to-date records and providing various reporting as directed, including timely administration and correspondence.
Conducting internal inspections and audits at sites as required. Using knowledge to develop solutions and engage resources to implement improvements to occupational safety issues/challenges.
Taking an active role working with other areas of the organization to improve safety performance/compliance.
Keeping abreast of and updating facility management regarding pertinent regulatory issues that may impact the business.
Participating in safety and workers compensation due-diligence activities as required.
To be successful, you will have the ability to successfully manage various tasks and achieve multiple objectives; have at least five (5) years of experience in a safety-related field. Progressive safety experience in a manufacturing setting with a strong focus on workforce ergonomics, regulatory program implementation, and/or maintenance. A bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, safety, or related education; strong interpersonal and facilitation skills with demonstrated ability to influence all levels of manufacturing personnel.
