Qualifications

Job description

STV is seeking a Safety Manager to support our Transportation Northeast Region Operating Group. This position is designated as onsite (5 days a week/in-office) and will be located at our client site in New York, NY.

This role reports to the Senior Safety Manager of the Transportation Northeast Region Operating Group and involves providing safety support across all management levels, integrating safety and health into all project phases, from design to jobsite management. Key responsibilities include strategic planning, program support, and staffing safety resources to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and compliant with regulations and quality standards. The candidate must proactively plan to improve efficiency, anticipate issues, and meet the operating group's support needs.

The position requires interaction with leadership to implement the STV HSE program across multiple projects and offices. Responsibilities include coordinating safety resources for regular site surveys, evaluating physical conditions, safety practices, hazardous situations, and compliance with safety standards. The role also involves interfacing with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and safety professionals to ensure adherence to safety standards, review safety requirements in contracts, and support pre-construction safety planning.

The ideal candidate must be able to:

  • Support strategic planning, program development, enforcement, safety staffing, and budgeting
  • Apply STV's policies and procedures to promote safety and health programs
  • Monitor compliance with safety, health, and environmental laws and standards
  • Audit the HSE Management system
  • Participate in injury and incident investigations, maintaining records and reports
  • Support program evaluation and improvement
  • Develop and implement safety procedures in collaboration with project teams
  • Work collaboratively with safety team members
  • Provide safety training and monitor compliance with training requirements
  • Attend contractors' pre-construction and project meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Travel regionally as needed

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, with a CHST, ASP or CHST designation, and 7-10 years of safety experience in the industry. Bridge, rail, and tunnel experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of seven years as an EH&S inspector in the Water Supply or Wastewater Sector
  • OSHA 30-hr Construction Safety Training is required
  • OSHA 500 Outreach Trainer is preferred
  • Experience with transit systems, subway rail systems, or regional railroads is preferred

Compensation Range: $82,265.06 - $109,686.74
