Job summary

Kiewit Energy Canada is offering a Safety Intern position for Summer 2027 in Calgary/Edmonton, Alberta. This internship provides hands-on learning across construction safety management with exposure to real projects and teams.

You'll develop key safety skills, participate in safety programs, and gain experience supporting health and safety initiatives across Canada. This role emphasizes ethics, initiative, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field of study.
• Familiar with construction terminology is an asset.
• Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Legislation.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Work in the company’s health and safety programs at the project level, driving a safety-oriented approach to work.
• Compile, analyze, and interpret occupational illness and accident data at the project level.
• Recommend safety features to reduce exposure to hazards.
• Routinely monitor the workforce for unsafe behaviors and coach on correct behaviors.
• Develop paperwork system to track training records for safety initiatives.
• Interpret safety regulations for the project.
