Job Summary:The Safety, Environmental & Security (SES) Coordinator will engage in a variety of activities in a wide range of SES disciplines. Under the mentorship of the Senior Manager of Safety, Environment and Security, the SES Coordinator will undertake projects directed at specific topics such as equipment safety, industrial hygiene, occupational ergonomics, environmental compliance, security, OSHA compliance, sustainability and training & education.

Key Tasks and Job Duties:

  • Represent the Peterborough Dairy and Juice Plant as an ambassador for safety.
  • Drive implementation of existing safety program, perform periodic review and support changes to constantly enhance safety culture
  • Serve as a lead member of the safety committee, follow up on action plans, maintaining meeting minutes and conducting meetings when SES Manager is not present.
  • Develop annual training plan and drive compliance against the plan, develop methods for effective onboarding of new employees, contractors etc.
  • Coordinate Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) program review as per defined schedule.
  • Coordinate all tasks associated with PPE maintenance. Work with vendor on PPE supplies.
  • Maintain contractor safety database and drive continuous compliance to contract safety management program and find ways to improve
  • Work with Safety Committee Lead to ensure all routine safety/environmental inspections are completed on time (i.e. eyewash, containment, first aid, spill kits, hoists, etc.).
  • Drive Hearing Conservation program compliance and improve as identified
  • Participate internal and external/regulatory Audits, and drive actions closure of actions
  • Document control system management provide support to revise, review, create and load documents.
  • Conduct assigned internal and external Compliance Audits.
  • Participate in Accident/Near Miss Investigations, and record keeping
  • Drive safety recognition program actively engages with Associates with observations, inspections, corrective actions.
  • Lead the plant ergonomics program/team including conducting assessments using industry-standard methods.
  • Support LOTO program in the creation of training material, procedures and maintaining lock log and lock/tag issuance.
  • Update safety communication boards.
  • Manage site security assessments, access cards, traffic routes compliance
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree/Diploma in occupational health, safety, environmental or another related field.
  • CRSP, CSP designation preferred.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge and understanding of OSHA, MOE, TDG, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and other governmental regulations.

Additional Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English.
  • Able to understand, follow directions and react under changing conditions.
  • Able to demonstrate good attendance and work ethic.
  • Navigate SAP to enter work orders.
  • Able to work on all shifts, weekends and/or holidays, as required.
  • Physical agility including climbing, bending, kneeling, twisting, and lifting minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Self-starter, ability to work with limited direction.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in office, production and outside areas.
  • Flexible work hours covering all shifts and extended hours, when necessary.
  • Work requires exposure to all temperature changes, high noise levels, working around moving equipment, tanks, heights, wet conditions, chemicals, vapors, vibrations, dust, etc.

Equipment Used:

  • Personal protective equipment including safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, hearing protection, or other PPE as needed.
  • General office equipment such as phone, copier, tablets and computer.
