The Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental health and occupational safety regulations and promoting a safe, healthy, and sustainable workplace in a composite manufacturing environment. This role involves implementing and overseeing safety programs, conducting risk assessments, facilitating training, and collaborating across departments to foster a culture of safety. The Safety Coordinator will also serve as a backup to the designated Environmental Coordinator, providing support for environmental compliance when needed.

Duties & Responsibilities
Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S)
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and other applicable regulatory standards.
- Communicate directly with employees at all levels to promote safe work practices and ensure understanding of safety policies.
- Enforce safety compliance consistently across the organization, addressing violations appropriately and supporting corrective actions.
- Conduct safety observations, audits, air/noise/dust sampling, and post-incident investigations.
- Develop, deliver, and document safety training programs.
- Monitor work areas for safety hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of all safety-related activities and ensure timely documentation.
- Support the ISO 14001 environmental management system including recycling and sustainability initiatives.
- Serve as a backup for environmental compliance responsibilities, including waste disposal vendor coordination, reporting, and facility services oversight.
- Collaborate with multiple safety committees to drive engagement, gather feedback, and implement workplace safety improvements.
Additional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with all departments to identify and resolve safety concerns.
- Assist in root cause analyses of safety incidents and recommend corrective actions.
- Contribute to safety-related continuous improvement projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Training
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience (minimum 3 years in safety compliance roles).
- OSHA 10- & 30-hour certifications or willingness to complete.
- Must maintain current OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour certifications.
- Must hold and maintain OSHA Authorized Trainer Certification in order to train employees on OSHA-10 and OSHA-30 courses.
- Additional certifications in safety or environmental compliance a plus.
Knowledge & Experience
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety compliance.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 environmental management systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience working cross-functionally in a manufacturing setting.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks independently.
- Analytical mindset for identifying safety risks and interpreting technical documentation.
- Capacity to work collaboratively and influence a culture of safety.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. periodically during the day.
