Job summary

Aecon Concessions is seeking a Health & Safety professional to support the ONxpress Civils project. The role focuses on safety orientations, program training, inspections and incident investigations across project locations in Canada.

Ideal candidates bring 1–2 years in construction safety, CRST/NCSO/COR preferred, and strong MS Office skills. The position offers mobility across Canada with comprehensive medical and dental benefits.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years’ experience in the construction industry in a Health and Safety role.
• CRST, NCSO and/or COR Auditor preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct safety orientation to workers, owners and clients.
• Train employees on Health, Safety and Environmental manual.
• Coordinate training for employees (e.g., fall protection, confined space entry, WHMIS, respiratory protection, emergency response).
• Conduct workplace inspections, observations and audits.
• Develop worksite safety plans and emergency/environmental plans.
• Distribute safety materials, supplies and equipment.
• Deliver safety presentations to clients and promote ONxpress safety system.
• Analyze EHS data trends and recommend corrective actions.
• Assist with workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
• Conduct incident investigations and liaise with government agencies.

The investment will generate thousands of new jobs and economic opportunities across the region. TheONxpressCivil Joint Venture iscomprisedof Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc. and FCC Canada Ltd. This multidisciplinary team leads the delivery of civil and track works,leveragingglobalexpertiseto introduce innovative solutions across the GO Transit network.

What You’ll Do:

Conduct safety orientation to workers,ownersand clients.

Train employees onONxpressHealth, Safety and Environmental Manual.

Train or co-ordinate training for employees (e.g., fall protection, confined space entry,WHMIS,respiratory protection, emergency response).

Conduct workplace inspections, behavior-basedobservationsand audits.

Update Material Safety Data Sheets asrequired.

Develop worksite safety plans – such as emergency plans, environmental or site safetyplans.

Distribution of safetymaterial,suppliesand equipment.

Safety presentations to clients.

Promoting theONxpresssafety system to potential industry clients.

Conduct studies and analyze EHS data trends.

Recommend &monitorcorrective actions.

Assistswith workers’ compensation claims.

Develop return to work and modified work programs.

Incident investigations.

Mediate health and safety issues for resolution.

Liaise with Government agencies asrequired.

Prepare andassistwith external safety audits.

Coordination of environmental issues.

Gather and provide EHS based statistics.

What You Bring:

Minimum1-2years’ experience in the construction industry in a Health and Safety role.

Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST), National Construction Safety Officer
(NCSO) and/or Certificate of Recognition (COR) Auditor preferred.

Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
Outlook).

Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy; excellent verbal and writtencommunication skills.

Exceptional organizational and time management skills.

Excellent meeting and training facilitation.

Adaptable and flexible to an ever-changing environment.

Valid driver’s license with a clean driver's abstract.

Mobility is essential, able to work on various project locations across Canada which areoften remote.

Expected compensation for this role is between $60,000-$70,000 annually. Base salaries aredeterminedaccording to multiple factors including skills,experienceand potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into consideration. In addition to basesalaryONxpressalso offers a comprehensive medical and dental program, RRSP with company matching and the potential toparticipatein our discretionary,performance basedbonus program.
