Job description

We are currently expanding and looking to add a motivated individual to our team based out of our Calgary office.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring compliance with the company’s safety policy and procedures by conducting regular review meetings with staff and monitoring the company’s CVOR safety rating, as well as driver vehicle inspections on a monthly basis.
  • Processing IRP applications and creating truck binders for owner operators, ensuring all truck authority documents are updated.
  • Maintaining complete and accurate records of tractor and trailer maintenance files, including preventive maintenance bills for owner operator and company units.
  • Ensuring all accident claims are registered with updated documents, adjusting physical damage claims including unreported damage claims.
  • Discussing accidents, damage, preventability, and processes with commercial vehicle operators. Maintaining files for litigation, subrogation, physical damage, liability, and workers compensation claims.
  • Tracking each accident claim by updating the Crash frequency register and reviewing the loss run report.
  • Negotiating directly with insurance company adjusters, claimants, and third-party claimant representatives upon receipt of critical information.
  • Evaluating the company’s safety rating by regularly updating and monitoring the Risk factor spreadsheet.
  • Reviewing and persistently following up on traffic tickets, convictions, and accidents.
  • Regularly monitoring federal and provincial safety regulations to stay current with safety and compliance programs and implement necessary changes.
  • Efficiently managing documents of all trucks and trailer files with two years of annual inspections and repair bills, with attached CVOR in each vehicle file and driver file.
  • Reviewing CVOR, applying for and renewing permits, and processing IRP applications.
  • Selecting, directing, and managing vendor relationships including towing companies, body shops, garages, and parking/storage yards to obtain accurate costs as needed in the settlement of claims.
  • Ordering police reports, setting up new claim files, and confirming loss to insurer & broker.
  • Communicating with the Claims team as well as the Safety/Compliance team (and others as necessary) on any relevant items.
  • Being available on-call for nights and weekends for serious accidents and other duties as necessary.
  • Performing other administrative and general tasks as they arise.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in a relevant field.
  • 3+ years of experience working in the Safety & Compliance Department.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good time management skills with the ability to prioritize and delegate work amongst a group.
  • Computer proficiency – excellent MS Office skills; must be comfortable with new software and interfaces.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Able to work in a loud, fast-paced environment.
  • Available to work on some weekends.
