Job summary

A leading transportation company in Toronto is seeking a Safety Assurance Manager to coordinate all Safety Assurance activities for projects. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Systems Engineering and at least 5 years of experience in safety assurance. This role involves performing safety analysis, defining safety plans, and managing safety engineers. An operational level of English for technical documentation is required.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in safety assurance, including 2 years in Railway business.
• Excellent knowledge of Cenelec Standards for Safety.
• Operational English for technical documentation.

Key accountabilities:

• Coordinate all the Safety Assurance activities on the project / system / product as per Safety process defined in Signalling Safety Instruction
• Perform Safety analysis, manage Hazard Log, review RAM, Cyber, V&V, T&C activities from a Safety perspective
• Define safety plan and manage safety workload and associated planning
• Support tenders and/or RC teams to integrate product/system in projects
• Build the Safety Reports and/or the Safety Cases
• Apply the safety assurance methodologies (risk acceptance criteria, safety analysis, verification and validation) defined for the project / system / product
• Organize and attend periodic Safety Reviews
• Defend Safety Case argumentations in front of internal (QS, Safety Assessor) and external (ISA) assessors; define and follow-up action plans to close the findings of the assessors
• Manage (if any) the Safety Assurance Engineers involved on the project / system / product (Internal or external resources)
• If identified as Safety Leader for a Safety Issue, manage 8D steps as per process

Key Job Authorities and Dimensions

• Safety reference on the related Projects/Program for the Core team, Customer (internal or external) and assessors/SA (internal and external)
• Safety budget responsible

Required Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering,Electronics,or Systems Engineering degree
• 5 years successful experience in safety assurance, including 2 years in Railway business
• Excellent knowledge ofCenelec Standards for Safety (or equivalent standards if needed: AREMA, IEEE, etc ) and safety methodology & concepts/principles
• English operational in reading and writing for technical documentation
