Job summary

Lindsay Construction in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, seeks a Safety Advisor to uphold safety obligations across Atlantic Canada. You will promote a safety-centric culture, lead training, conduct inspections, and contribute to continuous safety and quality improvements.

The ideal candidate has CHSC/CRSP designation with 1–3 years of construction safety experience and knowledge of regional regulations. The role includes site orientations, hazard assessments, and collaboration with multiple departments.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of safety experience within construction
  • Knowledge of current legislation and regulations within Atlantic Canada
  • Experience with safety training and maintaining training records
  • Experience with hazard assessments and site inspections
  • Knowledge of safe work practices and equipment maintenance

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation within Atlantic Canada
  • Promote a strong safety culture onsite and in office
  • Provide insight into the company’s health and safety program for continuous improvement
  • Conduct safety training and maintain training records
  • Conduct hazard assessments and formal site inspections
  • Record monthly safety statistics
  • Implement and monitor site-specific health and safety plans
  • Deliver site orientations and ensure onboarding before entering sites
  • Maintain logs of inspections, meetings, infractions, and mitigations
  • Assist with maintenance of the company’s quality management system
  • Support safety-related business development initiatives

Position Responsibilities

Here’s what your day-today looks like:

  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation within Atlantic Canada
  • Promote a strong safety culture both onsite and in office
  • Provide your insight into the company’s health and safety program to continuously make improvements
  • Conduct safety training and maintain safety training records (e.g., safety orientations, equipment inspections)
  • Conduct comprehensive hazard assessments and formal site inspections
  • Participate in recording monthly safety statistics
  • Implement, enforce, monitor, and update site specific health and safety plans
  • Deliver site specific safety orientations and ensure that personnel undergo orientation before entering the site
  • Maintain site specific logs of inspections, meeting, infractions, and mitigating measures
  • Assist with maintenance of the company’s quality management system
  • Work with the safety department on various business development initiatives (International Standards Organization, Workers Compensation Board, safety training, loss control, etc.)
Job Requirements

Our ideal candidate has the following:

  • 1-3 years of safety experience within construction industry
  • CHSC or CRSP designation, or similar
  • Experience working in high rise or multi-story construction considered a strong asset
  • Knowledge of current legislation and regulations within Atlantic Canada
  • Knowledge of safe work practices required for execution work and operation of equipmentKnowledge of preventative maintenance program for construction site equipment
  • Experience with basic AI tools and technology, or a demonstrated interest in learning and applying AI in the workplace, will be considered an asset.
  • Experience or a strong interest in incident investigations will be considered an asset.
  • Possess a working knowledge of the MS Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to lead and work with minimal supervision
  • Possess valid driver’s license
