Saanich Neighbourhood House is hiring F/T Early Childhood Educators

Position: Early Childhood Educator
Terms of employment: Full-time, Permanent
Wage: $25.91~$28.00/hour (depending on experience)
Working Hours: 30-40 hours/week
Number of Positions: 2
Work Location: 3100 Tillicum Road, Victoria, BC V9A 6T2

Job Duties:

  1. Develop and execute childcare programs to enhance children’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
  2. Lead activities such as storytelling, singing, and visits to local points of interest.
  3. Assess children’s development to prepare a learning plan tailored to their needs.
  4. Provide guidance to children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
  5. Manage daycare equipment and assist with housekeeping responsibilities.
  6. Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
  7. Foster collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers supporting children.
  8. Create and maintain a secure and healthy environment for children.
  9. Oversee and coordinate the activities of other early childhood educators and assistants.
  10. Discuss children’s progress and issues at staff meetings and provide written reports to early childhood educators or supervisors.
  11. Check the supplies for educational programs and order equipment as needed.

Job Requirements:

  1. Experience: Experience as an Early Childhood Educator is an asset.
  2. Education: College Certificate or diploma in early childhood education is required.
  3. Certificate: First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate, and E.C.E. Certificate.
