Aurora Middle School serves about 370 students in grades 4–8; preference given to those with post-secondary training/experience as an Educational Assistant and knowledge of documentation

S2627-79 Educational Assistant - Aurora Middle School

We are seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE)Educational Assistant to begin as soon as possible. These assignments involve assisting with student educational program needs including social skills, behaviour skills, self-help and personal care needs. These positions require a compassionate and energetic individuals to work in a team environment.

Aurora Middle School is located in the Town of Lac La Biche. Aurora Middle School has approximately 370 students in Grades 4 to 8.

Preference will be given to applicants who have :

• Post-Secondary training and/or experience as an Educational Assistant
• Knowledge and experience with behaviouralstrategies
• Experience working one-on-one and/or in a group setting
• Knowledge of documentation procedures and proficiency with computers
• Knowledge and experience in alternate communications strategies
• Experience assisting students with self-help and personal care needs
• Familiarity with strategies to address different learning styles and experience with Individual Program Plans

Training and skills that would be an asset include:

• Relative experience in educational assistance, nursing and/or rehabilitation
• SIVA and/or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
