School District 71 - Program Worker - Youth and Family (Elementary)

Position Details:

  • Program Worker - Youth and Family - Elementary
  • 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday
  • Current pay rate: $34.07/hour plus 16.3% in lieu of benefits

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Arts Degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, or related discipline, with relevant coursework in communication, counselling, CPI preferred, and at least two of the following: child and adolescent psychology, behavioural change theories, family systems, abnormal psychology, group processes
  • Minimum two years' experience working with at-risk children and youth
  • Skills in collaboration, consultation, and working with schools and community agencies
  • Knowledge in behaviour disorders, substance abuse, family dynamics, crisis intervention, trauma-informed practices
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Valid Class 5 B.C. driver's license, personal vehicle, and ability to meet physical requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to students, families, and small groups, under supervision
  • Recognize students at risk or in crisis, offering preventive and intervention services
  • Collaborate with school staff and community agencies
  • Support inclusion and student goals as per Individualized Education/Service Plans
  • Maintain accurate documentation and confidentiality
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including student supervision

  • Locations are determined by Inclusive Education and are subject to change
