S’COOL SKI COORDINATOR – JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: S’Cool Ski Coordinator
Reporting: Director of Operations / General Manager
Hours: 15 hrs/wk (Sept 15 – Sept 26)
25 hrs/wk (Sept 29 – Oct 31)
30 hrs/wk (Nov 3 – Nov 28)
40 hrs/wk (Dec 1 – April 8)
Wage: $26/hr
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Working knowledge of Nordic skiing, youth programs, and ski area operations
- Experience with online registration systems
- Ability to take direction, function independently, and manage multiple tasks and teams
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to think and act independently
- Demonstrated team leadership and supervisory skills
- Ability to function in a team environment
- Strong administrative and delegation skills
- Good computer skills (word processing and information management)
- Superior communication skills when working with team members, teachers, youth, and the public
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership and Supervisory
- Assist the Director of Operations in assessing staffing needs for the S’Cool Ski Program and coordinate instructor scheduling following the 2025-2026 Staffing Budget
- Assist with instructor recruitment, conduct performance reviews, and liaise with the Director of Operations regarding instructor performance
- Identify and ensure regular training for instructors
- Oversee maintenance of S’Cool Ski Program equipment, notifying the Director of Operations of repairs or orders
- Work with the Ski Technician to ensure skis are properly waxed and maintained
- Schedule instructors, manage scheduling issues, and ensure timesheets are submitted on time
Administrative
- Manage scheduling of schools participating in S’Cool Ski Programming at SLNC
- Maintain and update the weekly S’Cool ski data sheet for invoicing
- Provide schedule fill reports to the Director of Operations
- Manage office supplies and program items with the Director of Operations
- Maintain the school database
- Review instructor timesheets bi-weekly
- Lead instructor team meetings to plan upcoming weekly calendars
Facilities Management
- Ensure daily maintenance and organization of S’Cool Ski facilities
- Perform general clean-up, snow shoveling, and garbage collection in program spaces
- Ensure equipment is in good working order and arrange replacements with approval from the GM
Customer Service
- Serve as the first contact for school administrators and teachers
- Expand programming options by reaching out to new groups and schools
- Coordinate with Lodge Staff for equipment use when needed
- Identify and resolve customer service issues, report systemic or staffing problems to the Director of Operations
Communications and Marketing
- Monitor and respond to inquiries (schools@sovereignlake.com)
- Update website content and the S’Cool Ski Calendar in coordination with the Director of Operations
- Conduct outreach to promote the program in schools and the community
- Distribute rack cards to program families
- Promote the program to schools and at events
- Implement a school visitation program to recruit new schools and increase productivity
- Work to expand markets for marginalized youth, Youth Centres, Indigenous groups, and individuals with diverse abilities
- Participate as a Committee Member on the Jess4Kids Ski Scholarship Fund, attend meetings, and assist with funding applications
