Job description

Dryden Regional Health Centre (DRHC) is actively seeking locum physicians to support our Emergency Department. CCFP, RCPSC-EM, and new graduates are all welcome!

About the Position

Average ED volumes are approximately 45 patients per 24 hours, with most patients presenting during the day shift. About 75% of visits are CTAS 4/5. The team includes an experienced and supportive nursing staff and an ED Nurse Practitioner working alongside physicians most days (10am to 10pm).

Support and Resources
  • Local 2nd on-call, general surgery, and anesthesia support.
  • Local Diagnostic Imaging (CT, X-ray, ultrasound) adjacent to the emergency department.
Shifts
  • Day shift: 0800-2000
  • Night shift: 2000-0800
  • 24-hour shifts are also available (0800-0800).

  • If you have a resident working with you, DRHC is a teaching hospital affiliated with NOSM U and the University of Toronto. Our recruiter can assist with applying through the NORSTAR program to bring your resident for the experience.
  • If you already work in an Ontario ED, locum shifts in Dryden are available through the EDLP program.
  • For those who locum at other hospitals in Northwestern Ontario, our regional credentialing program allows you to pick up assignments in Dryden and other communities in one visit.
Remuneration and Benefits

There is no minimum shift requirement; you can work one 12-hour shift or multiple shifts.

Recently increased local rate: $300/hr!

Rates as per the Northern Specialist Locum Program (NSLP) Respite Locum rates, with recent increases effective April 1st.

Travel honorarium: $363.57 per travel day to/from Dryden.

Travel sessional rate up to $1,668.77 per travel day. You can claim up to $4,000 in travel expenses (mileage, flights, car rentals) round-trip.

Reimbursement is provided for all travel expenses and accommodations.
