Job summary

Canada Post in Williamsburg, Ontario is recruiting for a Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier, On-call Relief. This temporary on-call position involves sorting, collecting, and delivering mail to rural and suburban communities in a safe and timely manner.

You will build knowledge of local roads and customers, lift up to 50 lb, and operate a personal vehicle in all weather. A valid Class 5 or G licence and a satisfactory driving record are required; residing within 75 km of the Williamsburg Post

Qualifications

• Experience making deliveries and operating a motor vehicle in varied weather and traffic conditions.
• Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 lb (22.7 kg).
• Residing within 75 km of the Williamsburg Post Office is preferred.
• Valid permanent provincial driver’s licence - Class 5 or G.

• Ensure mail is safely secured in their possession
• Process various Canada Post products and services ("Change of Address Notification", Damaged Mail, Items Delivered Bill and others)
• Wear Canada Post identification while on delivery and ensure its visibility while delivering and collecting mail
• Lift and carry items up to 50 lb / 22.7 kg
• Operate a personal vehicle in all kinds of weather and traffic conditions

• Sort, collect, and deliver mail items safely and on schedule
• Acquire and maintain knowledge of local infrastructure including roads, customers, and delivery receptacles
• Ensure mail is safely secured in their possession
• Process various Canada Post products and services ("Change of Address Notification", Damaged Mail, Items Delivered Bill and others)
• Wear Canada Post identification while on delivery and ensure its visibility while delivering and collecting mail
• Lift and carry items up to 50 lb / 22.7 kg
• Operate a personal vehicle in all kinds of weather and traffic conditions

Mandatory Vehicle Requirements:

• Satisfactory safe driving record (driver's abstract required)
• Valid permanent provincial driver's licence - Class 5 or G
• Minimum cargo capacity of 50 cu ft (1,415 litres)
• Automatic transmission and power windows
• Metal roof-top and accessory power outlet to accommodate a Canada Post sign and flashing light
• Middle of passenger window sill between 38\" and 45\" from the ground and maximum interior width of 56\"
• Fifth door/hatchback preferred
• Adequate automobile liability insurance for use of vehicle with Canada Post
