An established industry player is seeking a skilled QA Consultant to enhance their testing strategies and ensure high-quality deliverables. This role involves collaborating with various teams to develop and execute test plans, focusing on both functional and non-functional testing. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in testing large systems, proficiency with leading testing tools, and a strong understanding of accessibility standards. Note: This contract requires the consultant to work from the office location 3 days per week, with the remaining 2 days remote.
Responsibilities: Provides advice on testing strategy, test plans, selection of testing tools, and resource identification for testing. Organizes testing efforts for large systems in GUI and non-GUI environments, including execution of systems integration tests, specialized tests, and user acceptance testing (e.g., stress tests). Develops test plans, scripts, and cases, and executes these against various system components. Collaborates with testing leads, IT leads, and project teams during analysis, design, development, implementation, and support phases.
General Skills: Experience in planning, organizing, and implementing testing efforts; knowledge of structured methodologies; familiarity with Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools, data query tools, automated testing tools, and version control systems; experience with functional, non-functional, and system integration tests; supporting UAT activities; creating testing documentation; and understanding of the Systems Development Life Cycle. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proven team player with deadline management skills. Knowledge of automated testing tools is a plus.
Desirable Skills: Knowledge of programming languages, information retrieval packages, object-oriented testing methods, information management principles, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), testing of COTS applications, and experience with testing large and small systems.
