The Project Manager is responsible for the following activities:
- Identifying strategic and operational requirements of specific project (product) management environment for IT initiatives;
- Providing ongoing advice on refinements and enhancements to the organization's project (product) management delivery processes;
- Developing project (product) design criteria, planning activities, business objectives, communication and reporting protocols, implementing planning, project prioritization and phasing strategies, issues management, quality assessment, and transition requirements;
- Directing, coordinating, and monitoring project (product) management activities to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality business and customer-focused results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Articulate the product vision and product strategy to ensure the project (product) team understands the purpose and plan.
- Prioritize features & manage the backlog to align the team on tactical design and development work.
- Establish and track measurable objectives to monitor progress.
- Decide when to ship software to deliver value to customers promptly and gather feedback for improvements.
- Continuously de-risk product direction by validating customer problems and business opportunities.
- Communicate effectively with team, stakeholders, and sponsors to maintain alignment and momentum.
Deliverables include (but not limited to):
- Product vision and road map (current, near, and future timelines)
- Product strategy: target audience, problems to solve, value propositions
- Customer discovery insights through end-user research
- Product features and user stories managed in backlog with the business product owner
- KPIs and success metrics with a dashboard
- Rationales for product decisions and directions
- Success stories (wins)
- Continuous delivery of features through user-centered design and agile methodologies
- Senior management communications including summaries and status updates
Skill Set Requirements:
- Experience in communication and mediation with business teams and core members to ensure project progress.
- Team building, consensus building, and relationship management skills.
- Strategies to overcome resistance to change during all project phases.
- Risk identification and mitigation planning.
- Ability to articulate and prioritize issues and risks at senior levels.
- Creating and maintaining a product roadmap.
- Experience with Agile (SCRUM) delivery, preferably with Scrum Master background.
- Requirements gathering and detailed project planning experience.
- Reporting to stakeholders and participating in steering committees.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud platform.
- Familiarity with collaboration tools like MIRO, Atlassian Confluence, Trello, Office 365, Google Drive, Zoom, Slack, Microsoft Teams.
- Experience with backlog management tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, Pivotal Tracker.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.

Project Management and Technical Documentation - 45%
· 10+ years managing enterprise projects, scope, risk, resources, schedules, costs.
· Extensive experience in creating project documentation.
· Recommending revisions for published materials and frameworks.
Technical Knowledge - 25%
· Knowledge of IT project management frameworks.
· Experience with environments like Oracle Database, Unix (Solaris, AIX, Linux), Windows Server, WebLogic, IIS, Mainframe applications.
Tools and Processes - 25%
· Experience with project documentation tools and cost-benefit analysis.
Public Sector Experience - 5%
· Familiarity with Ontario Public Service policies and procedures is an asset.
Must haves: 10+ years of enterprise project management experience managing scope, risk, resources, schedules, and costs.
