The Project Manager is responsible for the following activities:
- Identifying strategic and operational requirements of specific project (product) management environment for IT initiatives;
- Providing ongoing advice on refinements and enhancements to the organization's project (product) management delivery processes;
- Developing project (product) design criteria, planning activities, business objectives, communication and reporting protocols, implementing planning, project prioritization and phasing strategies, issues management, quality assessment, and transition requirements;
- Directing, coordinating, and monitoring project (product) management activities to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality business and customer-focused results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Articulate the product vision and product strategy, ensuring the project (product) team understands the purpose and plan.
- Prioritize features and manage the backlog to focus the project (product) team on tactical design and development work.
- Establish and track measurable objectives to monitor progress.
- Decide when to ship software to deliver benefits to customers promptly and gather feedback for iteration.
- De-risk product direction by building features based on validated customer problems and business opportunities.
- Communicate effectively to align stakeholders and maintain momentum.
Deliverables include (but not limited to):
- Product vision and road map (current, near, and future timelines)
- Product strategy: target audience, problems to solve, value propositions
- Customer discovery insights through end-user research activities
- Product features and functions via product management backlog and user stories
- Product KPIs or success criteria, including a metrics dashboard
- Product decision and direction rationales
- Product wins (success stories)
- Continuous shipping of features to improve the minimal viable product using user-centered design and agile methodologies
- Communications to senior management, including summaries and status updates
Skill Set Requirements:
- Experience in communication and mediation with business teams and core members to ensure project progression
- Team building, consensus building, and relationship management skills
- Strategies to overcome resistance to change during all project stages
- Risk identification and mitigation planning
- Ability to articulate and prioritize issues and risks at senior levels
- Creating and maintaining a product roadmap
- Experience with Agile (SCRUM) delivery, including Scrum Master role preferred
- Requirements gathering and detailed project planning experience
- Experience with reporting to multi-stakeholders and participating in steering committees
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud platform
- Familiarity with collaboration tools like MIRO, Atlassian Confluence, Trello, Microsoft Office 365, Google Drive, Zoom, Slack, Microsoft Teams
- Experience with backlog management tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, Pivotal Tracker
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, presentation, and communication skills

Project Management and Technical Documentation - 45%
· 10+ years managing enterprise projects, scope, risk, resources, schedules, costs
· Experience in creating project documentation and recommending revisions
Technical Knowledge - 25%
· Knowledge of IT project management frameworks and environments like Oracle, Unix, Windows, WebLogic, IIS, Mainframe
Tools and Process - 25%
· Experience with project documentation tools and cost-benefit analysis
Public Sector Experience - 5%
· Experience with Ontario Public Service policies and procedures is an asset
Must haves: 10+ years of enterprise project management experience, including scope, risk, resources, schedules, and costs.
