Job description

Do you have experience in setting up user access and user profiles, backup and recovery, and day-to-day computer systems operations? Do you have excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills? If so this would be a great opportunity for you!

Our client is looking for a Senior Systems Administrator/Operations Support Specialist for a 6 month contract in Toronto. This is a hybrid role.

Responsibilities

  • Providing systems administration and systems operations support for day-to-day computer systems operations.
  • Performing software upgrades, applying patches, and providing customer interface to ensure requested changes are implemented, monitor computer workload trends and make adjustments to ensure optimum utilization of computer resources.
  • Upkeeping, configuring, installing and supporting the clients, network and coordinate the various systems. Implementation and administrative experience on Microsoft SCOM 2022 version.
  • Performing administrative tasks on System Center Operation Manager console.
  • Performing migration and version upgrade for SCOM Management Server, Gateway Server and SCOM agents.
  • Performing integration with OpenText Operation Bridge for Event, topology and metrics exchange.
  • Deploying custom monitoring for Active Directory, MS Exchange, DNS, SQL, F5 Devices, storage devices, Citrix NetScaler, etc.
  • Developing Microsoft Windows PowerShell scripting engine to automate tasks with SCOM.
  • Deploying SNMP and agent-based monitoring for servers and network devices.
  • Developing custom management packs, custom policy, and rules to manage out of box monitoring.
  • Providing application support for the SCOM platform and create and maintain monitoring and notification rules.
  • Reviewing and updating SCOM console security, applying patches, creating SCOM console roles and reviews, and creating and installing custom Management Packs (MP) as needed.
  • Delivering SCOM views via Remote Desktop Web Access, creating custom reports on results of SCOM monitoring, using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) technologies, and providing problem resolution for SCOM components and related custom scripts.
  • Performing day-to-day troubleshooting, agent issues, alert acknowledgment, event log analysis, network issues, script update, and maintenance activities on SCOM tool.

Qualifications

General Skills:

  • Experience at the specified experience level setting up user access and user profiles, backup and recovery, and day-to-day computer systems operations.
  • Experience with one or more operating systems.
  • Experience with one or more hardware platforms.
  • Experience with information retrieval packages.
  • Experience with one or more communications protocols. Experience with middleware and gateways.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills; and interpersonal skills. A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines.

Must Haves:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in SCOM
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Active Directory
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Infrastructure
  • 3-5 years’ experience with monitoring tools

Desirable Skills:

  • Possesses experience in server and active directory administration
  • Has knowledge of backup, restoration and archival processes (Azure Backup skill is an asset)
  • Has exposure to other monitoring solutions like ClientBridge, Grafana
  • Experience with Ansible Tower, Terraform or other automation platforms is nice to have
