Job description

Pathways Posting : 40-25E Job Title : Regular Part-Time Support Worker Location : Web 1 Search Area : Open Wage Rate : $23.08 - $24.46 per hour (note : the above hourly rate includes negotiated rate and permanent compensation enhancement). # Required : Five (5) Schedule : Varied Schedule - Guaranteed between forty-eight (48) and seventy (70) hours per pay period. Schedules may vary with each pay period and employees will be provided with their work schedule at least six (6) weeks in advance. Pathways to Independence requiresfive (5) Regular Part-Time Support Workers who will work as a member of the residential support team to enhance the social, leisure and daily living activities for adults. Under the direction of the Client Services Manager, the Support Worker supports adults with dual diagnosis, mental health, behavioral challenges, and those involved in forensic services in accordance with the person’s life plan. The Support Worker provides support with activities such as homemaking, personal care, community, and personal development skills in accordance with the person’s Quality of Life Plan, and other directives as required. The Support Worker will implement established strategies and behavior management plans under the general direction of the Manager and Counsellor. The Support Worker ensures that the person’s services and support promote their rights, choices, self-determination, independence and builds personal and community living skills. The successful candidate must have the following skills / qualifications :

  • Secondary school graduation and a minimum one-year post-secondary certificate in Human or Health Services (Proof of education is a condition of employment).
  • Continuing education in dual diagnosis, behavior management or mental health is an asset.
  • Current First Aid and CPR.
  • Valid G class driver’s license. Ideal candidates will also have experience and abilities aligned with the key responsibilities for these positions, which includes :
  • Provide effective services and support to supported persons.
  • Manage and maintain accurate client information and documentation.
  • Participate and ensure a positive team environment.
  • Demonstrate a person-centered philosophy and commitment to agency vision, mission, and guiding principles,
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and solve problems in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency in electronic mail and other computer-based tools.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to advocate on behalf of the client.
  • Regular attendance is a requirement of this position.
  • Experience working with adults with a dual diagnosis, mental health, or other cognitive impairment in a residential, community or independent living environment. The successful candidate must be able to perform the job duties as outlined in the job description. All employees at Pathways will be responsible for a commitment to safety. Shifts are typically 12 hours long and include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. May work with clients who have aggressive behavior.
