The Salvation Army in Ontario is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to deliver safe, person-centered care under the direction of the Director of Care and RN. The RPN will participate in care planning, document clinical information, and support infection prevention and safety protocols.

You will coordinate with PSWs and the interdisciplinary team, mentor junior staff, and maintain compliance with Ministry of Health requirements while upholding compassionate, client-centered care.

Formación

• Graduate of an approved Practical Nurse’s Program.
• Current certification in First Aid & CPR.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure under provincial regulations.
• Minimum three years of related nursing experience.

The role contributes to the broader mission and values of The Salvation Army, upholding standards of service that reflect its spiritual and social commitment to the community.ACCOUNTABILITIES:Incumbents may perform all, some, or similar range of duties as below.• Deliver safe, effective, and person-centered nursing care in accordance with the RPN scope of practice, care plans, and regulatory standards.• Administer medications and treatments accurately, document and report client responses and changes in condition in a timely and thorough manner.• Support assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care plans collaboratively with clients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.• Maintain complete and accurate clinical documentation using approved electronic health record systems and medication administration records.• Facilitate clear communication with clients, families, physicians, and team members to ensure informed, respectful, and coordinated care as directed.• Participate in staff orientation, mentoring, education, and performance feedback as assigned by nursing leadership.• Promote infection prevention, health and safety, and emergency protocols to maintain a safe and clean environment for clients and staff.• May coordinate and support Personal Support Workers (PSWs)/Health Care Aides to ensure clear direction and quality of care.• May act as shift lead when assigned by leadership, coordinating workflow, resource allocation, and care delivery.• Uphold organizational policies, professional ethics, and Ministry of Health requirements to support quality improvement and regulatory compliance.• Represent the organization in a respectful and professional manner, reflecting the mission and values of The Salvation Army.• Other related duties as assigned.CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:Internal: Ministry Unit leadership, staff, and volunteers.External: External agencies (e.g., EMS, health care service agencies and providers), clients and clients’ family members of ministry unit in person, students.MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Reports directly to the Director of Care.FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:• May be involved in minor financial transactions on a regular or relief basis and is expected to exercise sound judgment in the use of organizational and personal resources.• May be authorized to handle small amounts of cash, including disbursements and collections.• May be responsible for maintaining and tracking fixed asset inventories (e.g., medications, medical supplies, etc.).• May hold material responsibility for the proper care and maintenance of medical tools and equipment.• May have access to confidential and sensitive information and is expected to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.WORKING CONDITIONS:• Work is primarily performed indoors within the facility in a fast-paced environment.• This work requires sitting, standing, walking, and keyboarding.• Some scheduled overtime and shift/weekend work may be required for this position.• Occasional travel within the city may be associated with this position.
