Job summary

Baycrest Hospital Ambulatory Care is excited to offer a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) position within the Ambulatory Services’ Adult Day Program (The Freeman Family Day Centre). Position is On Call/Casual with shifts that vary; hourly pay rate $38.41 – $39.02; Union: SEIU Service PT.

The RPN provides sound clinical nursing knowledge, delivers and evaluates nursing interventions, orders tests including RAT, and collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to meet client needs.

Qualifications

• Current registration, in good standing, from the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Level C with AED certification.
• Experience in day programs or with residents in community settings preferred.
• Certificate in Dementia Care preferred.
• Training in Gentle Persuasive Approach and U-First preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides sound clinical knowledge and acts as a clinical expert and resource.
• Delivers comprehensive client/family-centred health care services.
• Plans, delivers and evaluates nursing interventions, including medications, RAT, and treatments within RPN scope.
• Provides client-centred care within an interdisciplinary team to meet personal care, activation, recreation and spiritual needs of clients.

The Adult Day Program

is focused on offering older adults a wide range of social, cognitive, physical and spiritual activities. This program is designed for community dwelling seniors with physical frailty as well as mild cognitive impairments.

Key Responsibilities

• Provides sound clinical knowledge and skills, acts as clinical expert and resource
• Provides comprehensive, quality client/family centred health care services
• Plans for, delivers and evaluates nursing interventions, including medications, Rapid Antigen testing (RAT), as well as treatments which fall within the RPN’s scope of practice
• Provides client-centred care within an interdisciplinary care team to meet the personal care, activation, recreation and spiritual needs of clients

Qualifications

• Current registration, in good standing, from the College of Nurses of Ontario (‘CNO’) is required
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (‘BCLS’) certificate, Level C - Automated External Device (‘AED’) is required
• Experience with clients in day programs setting or residents in a Community Setting preferred
• Certificate in Dementia Care preferred
• Training in Gentle Persuasive Approach and U-First preferred
