Job summary

NorWest Community Health Centres is seeking a Part-time RPN Foot Care Nurse for the Longlac Site. The role supports primary care delivery with a strong focus on prevention, health promotion, client education, and empowerment.

The position runs 17.5 hours per week with flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends. We offer a competitive hourly rate, group health benefits, and HOOPP pension eligibility.

Qualifications

  • RN or RPN registered with CNO in good standing.
  • Minimum two years of experience as a Foot Care Nurse.
  • Certification in Basic and Advanced Foot Care required.
  • Experience with nursing assessments, treatments and care planning.
  • Experience supporting individuals facing housing and substance use challenges.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Provide foot care services to Longlac Site clients.
  • Support delivery of primary care with emphasis on prevention and health promotion.
  • Educate clients and empower them in self-care and disease prevention.
  • Work within an interprofessional team and maintain EMR documentation.

Job description

RPN – Foot Care Nurse

0.5 FTE

Longlac Site

One of a network of provincial community health centres, the NorWest Community Health Centres is a community based, non-profit organization funded by Ontario Health, emphasizing access to primary health care and prevention programs and services.

We are currently seeking 0.5FTE RPN Foot Care Nurse, who as a valued member of the Community Health Centre team, will provide foot care services and support the delivery of care to our Longlac Site clients. The successful candidate will also contribute to the provision of primary care services for the individuals we serve, with a strong emphasis on disease prevention, health promotion, client education, and empowerment.

This position is part-time and will have 17.5 hours worked per week; 35 hours every 2 weeks and 70 hours per month.

It has a competitive salary, excellent group health benefits and the option to join the Health Care of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP).

The pay range for this position is $29.182 to $35.157 per hour. Compensation will commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Foot Care Nurse.
  • Certification in Basic and Advanced Foot Care is required to perform clinical activities in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario standards for nursing practice.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in current nursing procedures, nursing assessments, physical assessments, and treatment interventions.
  • Experience working with individuals who are underhoused and those with current or past substance use concerns, requiring support with complex care needs.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interprofessional team environment.
  • Experience using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize professional assessment skills to identify the physical, mental, and psychosocial needs of clients.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to health issues affecting individuals who face barriers to accessing care, including those who are underhoused, living with mental health challenges or diagnoses, have current or past substance use concerns, complex health histories, are members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, are newcomers, or are uninsured.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing culturally safe, client-centered, and equitable care.
  • Valid Ontario driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
