Job summary

Guelph General Hospital is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to deliver high-quality, safe and evidence-based care in partnership with patients and families. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and coordinate documentation of patient care activities.

The role requires an Ontario-registered RPN, BLS certification, and at least 2 years of Emergency department experience, with strong skills in ECG interpretation, IV therapy, wound care, and patient assessment.

Qualifications

• Certificate of registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Minimum two (2) years recent Emergency clinical experience.
• Demonstrated competence in ECG, arrhythmia interpretation, IV therapy, wound care, phlebotomy.

Position Summary:

The primary role of the RPN is to provide high quality, safe, effective and evidence-based care in partnership with patient and families, in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario standards and GGH’s mission, vision, values and policies. Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Abilities:

• Certificate of registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Minimum two (2) years recent Emergency clinical experience
• Demonstrated competence in the performance of the following skills: ECG, arrhythmia interpretation, IV therapy (including maintenance, IV starts and IV medication administration), splinting, oral, IM and Subcutaneous medication administration, wound care, CBGM and phlebotomy
• Current understanding of the Canadian Triage and Acuity Scales (CTAS)
• Non-violent crisis intervention training
• Patient assessment course, adult and paediatric
• Demonstrated commitment to best practice, nursing standards and life-long learning
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Strong critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills
• Demonstrated excellent assessment skillsDemonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
