Valard Construction LP is Canada's premier powerline contractor, serving clients in both public & private sectors. We offer construction services in overhead and underground transmission and distribution systems, substations, fibre optics, as well as substation and transmission foundations.
Valard Construction LP is seeking a qualified ROW Field Support to join our team of Right-of-Way staff.
Responsibilities
- Financial Support - Collecting and reviewing subcontractor field data, invoices, handling purchase order site requests/entry, collecting packing slips/tickets, providing procurement support, assisting with purchase order closeout, submitting expense reports, and creating invoices
- Contract Administration Support - Assisting with change order management by tracking change orders and ensuring timesheets and invoices are tracked and coded appropriately
- Timesheet Support - viewing timesheets for consistency and correctness, entering time into Valard's payroll system, and communicating issues with corporate payroll
- Camps Coordination - Supporting the coordination of overnight accommodations in camps for field staff, communicating with site offices and the Travel Team to ensure accommodations are available
- Travel Coordination - Scheduling and requesting flights, accommodations, shuttles, etc. as required by ROW personnel
- IT requests - Providing support for ROW staff as required; e.g. relaying requests to IT for equipment or access, and ensuring it is provided or implemented per the request
- Reports - Collecting, entering, and distributing data for field reports, including the Plan-of-the-Day and Daily Reports
General ROW Field Support Tasks
- General data entry as required and incorporation of field data into reports
- Participation in Valard Safety programs
- Developing contacts throughout the company and having the ability to track down pertinent and essential information through these contacts
- Using Valard systems and processes to complete day-to-day tasks
- Coordination with Edmonton office Project Assistants
- Documenting and distributing meeting minutes for various site meetings
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience working at a construction office would be an asset
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office programs
- Superior organizational and time management skills
- Strong initiative and the ability to work independently
- Ability to learn new programs/systems quickly
- Attention to detail is key
Education and Experience
- Three years of experience in a related field of work in an administrative role is desirable
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration or related administrative diploma would be considered an asset
