The Rotational Field Service Technician, Power Systems will work on our customer sites to safely and effectively diagnose and repair Caterpillar Power Systems in a timely manner while maintaining high standards and ensuring positive customer experiences.
- Rotational Position: 14 days on / 14 days off schedule

In a typical day, YOU will :
- Follow all reasonable steps and precautions to ensure Toromont’s Health and Safety Guidelines are adhered to by all personnel
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on gensets, industrial engines, marine engines, controls, and other auxiliary equipment such as Automatic Transfer Switches, Switchgear, and Uninterruptible Power Supplies
- Conduct pre-job hazard assessments and mechanical repairs on engines and generators both in the shop and on customer sites
- Perform basic troubleshooting and provide detailed service reports with recommendations for repairs and upgrades
- Use electrical and mechanical testing and calibration equipment for diagnostics and servicing
- Interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Submit accurate service reports, time cards, and other documentation promptly
- Operate and connect load banks in testing environments
- Demonstrate safe and healthy work behaviors at all times, supporting Toromont’s Health and Safety policies and initiatives
Must-haves for this role :
- Post-secondary education in a field related to diesel engines, electromechanics, marine engine mechanics, generator mechanics, or equivalent
- MaK training/certification
- Experience with generators, gensets, diesel engines, marine engines, or related heavy equipment
- Experience working on large diesel engines in marine environments is an asset
- Experience with diesel generators, switchgear, and transfer switches is an asset
