A leading healthcare provider in Hamilton seeks a clinical support specialist for the ENT Residency Clinic. The role involves managing equipment, ensuring patient flow, and maintaining infection control standards. Candidates must possess a high school diploma and relevant certifications, with strong communication and interpersonal skills essential for effective patient interaction.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position requires specialized training and expertise in the set-up, stocking and turnover of clinical examination rooms located in the ENT Residency Clinic ensuring that staff have the supplies and equipment required to support timely patient care. The successful candidate will also support the flow and transport of patients and specimens , stock sterile supplies and other equipment, be accountable for the management of nasopharyngeal and video-scopes including set-up, removal and safe packaging, tracking and transportation of scopes for reprocessing and return to clinic and all other duties as assigned. Knowledge of infection control principles and medical aseptic techniques are essential to the position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-High School Diploma
-Successful completion of a Certificate or Diploma in Sterile Supply/Medical Device Reprocessing through a recognized post-secondary educational institution
OR Valid CSAO certificate plus a minimum of 3 months of recent medical device reprocessing experience
-Operating Room Attendant Course preferred
-Demonstrated commitment to the values of Service, Responsible Stewardship, Community Responsiveness and Respect.
-Applicants must possess good oral and written communication skills, with the ability to follow oral and written instructions.
-Applicants must possess excellent interpersonal skills.
-Excellent work performance and attendance record are essential.
-Basic data entry skills and familiarity with computerized tracking and ordering systems for materials management. Proficient with Outlook.
-Familiarity with techniques, products and machinery used to safely reprocess endoscopes.
-Understanding and appreciation of the principles of Infection Control and Microbiology.
-Demonstrated ability to accept responsibility, work with minimal supervision and show initiative.
-Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships and be able to communicate effectively with patients, family and staff.
-Ability to prioritize tasks and to work in a high paced environment.
-Applicants must be totally capable of performing all related duties (frequent standing, walking, lifting, maneuvering heavy loaded stretchers in close quarters, operation of specialized equipment).
-Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
-Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Communicates professionally and effectively with patients, families and members of the interprofessional team.
-Supports the flow of patients into examination rooms, ensuring rooms are clean, set-up and adhere to IPAC standards and CSA Standards.
-Stocks clinic spaces with needed equipment and supplies ensuring staff have what resources are needed to support patient care. Facilitates access to additional equipment with organizational partners through professional communication.
-Accountable for the safe management of nasopharyngeal and video-scopes including set-up/ preparation for use, removal, manual cleaning, safe packaging and preparation for transport, and transportation to and from clinic.
-Participates in the tracking of equipment to ensure traceability to patient use. .
-Orders and receives supplies for Stores as required for the daily activity of the clinic.
-Commitment to ongoing training and education as it pertains to changes in procedures, technology, instruments and equipment.
-Maintains equipment and clinic appears clean, tidy and safe condition.
-Coordinates the flow, pickup and delivery of materials to the Reprocessing Room in Endoscopy/ MDRD.
-Participates in the orientation and training of new staff members and serves as a resource for other team members.
WAGE RATE:
$27.70 ... $28.90 ... $30.11 (plus 145 in lieu of benefits)
