Tayco is currently seeking 1 full-time and ambitious Robotic Welding Technician to join our dynamic team and help us achieve a new vision. The Robotic Welding Technician will be a valuable member of our afternoon shift Metal Fabrication Team, responsible for ensuring the assembly of high-quality products that meet our customers' needs.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Program and reset Robotic Welder for each frame size change; reboot the system when required.
- Modify computer-controlled robot programs and movements.
- Develop robotic path motions to maximize efficiency, safety, and quality.
- Weld components following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Troubleshoot robotic systems using knowledge of microprocessors, programmable controllers, mechanics, etc.
- Align, fit, or assemble component parts using hand and power tools into fixtures or templates.
- Operate robots for both customized and regular production welding runs.
- Evaluate weld thickness and quality, ensuring conformance to specifications; inspect grooves, angles, or gap allowances per SOPs.
- Ensure each frame is properly aligned.
- Manually weld or remove rough spots from workpieces using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers as needed.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings with minimal errors.
- Position and secure steel and aluminum parts into jigs and fixtures in preparation for welding.
- Ensure accuracy of frame setup, including clamping and square measurements, per SOPs.
- Adjust jigs and fixtures according to product sizes.
- Move welded products to staging areas.
- Maintain documentation and procedures in compliance with ISO quality standards.
- Prepare metal fabricated parts using punch presses and saws per SOPs.
- Ensure welded parts meet engineering drawings and tolerances.
- Maintain a safe work environment and good housekeeping standards according to Health and Safety Standards.
- Comply with all health and safety policies, including wearing PPE at all times.
- Keep work area clean and organized.
- Provide SOP process familiarization and orientation.
- Work overtime as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Diploma, apprenticeship in Welding, or equivalent work experience; TSSA or CWB certifications in MIG welding preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in industrial welding with a proven success record.
- Excellent knowledge of MIG welding techniques and the ability to perform related responsibilities.
- Ability to understand, speak, read, and write English; capable of following verbal and written instructions and safety procedures.
- Strong communication skills for documentation, problem-solving, teamwork, and continuous learning.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Results-driven with a focus on efficiency.
- Proactive problem solver with initiative.
- Knowledge of personal safety, security, environmental practices, WHMIS, and OSHA standards.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, manipulate materials, and maintain physical flexibility.
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail to operate tools and detect flaws.
