Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a highly motivated Roadworks Construction Inspector. The role involves providing inspection services, including quality management, record documentation, and ensuring compliance with drawings, standards, and specifications.

The ideal candidate will have effective communication skills (verbally and in writing), strong project and program management expertise, and an understanding of infrastructure construction. Responsibilities may include assisting with plans and designs of roads and structures, monitoring site activities, and verifying on-site materials testing. Work will primarily be within the District of Saanich.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake daily construction site inspections, including documenting tasks, equipment, and photographic records.
  • Inspect typical road construction activities such as storm sewer drainage, concrete works, granular pavement, and asphalt paving.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Management processes.
  • Coordinate with other consultants, government agencies, and outside organizations.
  • Facilitate and document project team meetings.
  • Manage construction schedules and budgets.
  • Assist the client in bringing the project to completion, ensuring satisfaction with schedule, scope, and budget.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Current experience in inspection or supervision of road or other construction projects.
  • Experience with Quality Control / Quality Assurance programs.
  • Knowledge of Master Municipal Construction Documents (MMCD) is an asset.
  • Three years’ experience preferred; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Engineering graduates preferred; technical school graduates are also encouraged to apply.
  • Strong client interaction and relationship skills.

Education and Experience

  • Diploma of Technology or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of three years’ relevant experience.

Salary Range(s):

  • BC Other Areas: $37 - $54 per hour, based on experience and location.
