The City of Abbotsford’s Operations department is seeking a skilled and dedicated Roads Project Coordinator to join our team. This full-time position involves the coordination of the operation, construction, maintenance, and repair of municipal transportation infrastructure. The Roads Project Coordinator will provide technical analysis to develop, implement, and manage maintenance programs, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. This role assists the Manager of Roads Maintenance in planning and implementing strategies to maintain the desired condition of the City’s transportation infrastructure.

As the Roads Project Coordinator, you will be responsible for conducting inspections, maintaining records, creating maintenance plans, coordinating with departments, communicating with stakeholders, managing GIS databases, estimating project costs, ensuring safety compliance, assisting in health and safety initiatives, monitoring expenditures, and supervising contractors.

The ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge of civil construction, road building, engineering concepts, and construction practices. Proficiency in project management, technical drawings, relevant regulations and codes, CAD, GIS, and MS Office software is essential. Strong communication, teamwork, and relationship-building skills are crucial, along with the physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

As the ideal candidate you have:

  • Completion of a two-year diploma in Civil Engineering Technology and or equivalent related diploma from a recognized educational institute.
  • Five years of related experience in roadway construction or maintenance, including two years in project coordination or project management.
  • Training and/or related experience in GIS and CAD platforms is an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.


This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $38.30 to $45.07 per hour in additional to our comprehensive, competitive benefits package.
