Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Mechanical Technician or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems for material handling equipment.
  • Ability to interpret and implement technical procedures.

Position Summary

Are you good with your hands, have a knack for all things technical? Join Johnston Equipment as a Road Service Technician.

As the Road Service Technician, you will conduct maintenance checks and repairs for lift trucks and carousels at customer sites, providing consistent service and technical knowledge to our customers.

How You’ll Make An Impact

You will be responsible for the overall operational integrity and condition of internal combustion or diesel trucks with the following responsibilities:

  • Examine overall operational integrity and condition of the trucks
  • Diagnose, adjust/repair mechanical, hydraulic or electrical parts, then communicate and execute next steps for repair solutions to the customer
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance
  • Diagnose and order parts according to technical manuals
  • Document and analyze breakdowns based on standard procedures
  • Be the front line contact between GNJ and the customer, comfortable with client contact and technical communication
What You’ll Bring To The Table
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Mechanical Technician or equivalent
  • Ability to perform duties in inclement weather conditions
  • Truck and Coach 310T Certification or Heavy Duty Technician Certification
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems of battery and engine-powered material handling equipment
  • Experience with hand tools, measuring devices, and electrical/electronic diagnostic tools
  • Experience with industrial equipment involving lifting, dismantling, maintaining, and installing machinery
  • Ability to interpret and implement technical procedures
  • Knowledge of Lock-out/Tag-out procedures
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Customer service orientation
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid driver’s license

Education:

  • Lift Capacity Inspection Technician Certification (asset)
  • Automotive Technician Certification or Designation (preferred)
