The salary range for this position is CAD $41.42/Hr. - CAD $55.91/Hr.

Summary

Are you a Med-Surg RN looking to grow your career in a highly specialized area? We’re currently hiring for our GI Endoscopy Training Opportunity at St. Paul’s Hospital!

This is a fully funded, 7-week training program offered by Providence Health Care. Upon successful completion, you’ll move into a regular full-time position in our GI Endoscopy Unit. As a Staff Nurse, you'll be at the forefront of patient care, working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to ensure patients/residents receive comprehensive support. Your responsibilities will include:

1. Assess patients' physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs.
2. Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
3. Incorporate teaching into care plans to educate patients and families.
4. Make referrals to resources as needed.
5. Support fellow healthcare professionals.
6. Operate within the framework of Providence Health Care's mission, vision, and values.

What You Bring

Education

1. Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
2. Minimum one year’s experience in medicine or surgical nursing.
3. Previous perioperative, emergency, or catheterization lab experience preferred.

Your Day to Day:

1. Gather and analyze patient information (charts, observations, interviews) to develop, implement and revise individualized, evidence‑based care plans with patients and families.
2. Provide hands‑on nursing interventions (including crisis and life‑threatening care), delegate tasks to support staff, and guide the multidisciplinary team in delivering safe, effective treatments.
3. Track patient progress, evaluate outcomes against goals, adjust care plans as needed, and communicate changes or concerns promptly to the team and family.
4. Identify and meet learning needs of patients, families and staff through one‑on‑one and group teaching; mentor new nurses and students and model best‑practice guidelines.
5. Maintain accurate, timely documentation in line with professional standards and PHC policies; ensure critical updates are shared with patients, families and colleagues.
6. Coordinate discharge plans by connecting patients and families with community resources, follow‑up services and support agencies.
7. Help develop and evaluate policies, participate in research and quality‑improvement activities, uphold infection‑control and safety procedures, and advocate for patient dignity, respect and autonomy.
