A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Staff Nurse to join their team in Vancouver. The role involves assessing, planning, and implementing patient care within a client-centered model. The salary range for this position is CAD $41.42/Hr. - CAD $55.91/Hr.
BCIT Neonatal Program. Pre-req by distance: Sept 2 – Nov 21, 2025. Classroom/Clinical: Jan 5 – March 27, 2026. Dates are approx, set by BCIT. # of seats filled is undetermined.
Within a client and family-centred model of care, and in accordance with the Mission, Vision, Values, and strategic directions of Providence Health Care, the person promotes a safe, respectful, and civil working environment for patients, residents, families, visitors, and staff. Reporting to the Operations Leader, the Staff Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care to meet the physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs of patients/residents using an established nursing practice framework. Develops, implements, evaluates, and revises the care plan, incorporating teaching and referrals as needed. Supports colleagues by sharing information and demonstrating procedures within an interdisciplinary framework aligned with BCCNM Standards and Providence Health Care protocols.
Education: Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). If not qualified, PHC offers funding for Post-Basic Education, covering tuition, books, and wages at 100% of FTE. Eligibility requires 1-2 years of medical/surgical experience and no recent funding from PHC for Post-Basic Education. Completion of this education is required before working in the department.
Skills and Abilities: Effective communication, CPR knowledge, teamwork, decision-making, conflict resolution, physical ability, prioritization, equipment operation, patient education, leadership in group sessions, and clinical direction.
Responsibilities include reviewing patient/resident status, assessing needs, planning and evaluating care, documenting, responding to crises, and leading educational activities. The role involves collaboration, mentorship, participation in quality improvement, research, discharge planning, and advocacy. Other duties include sharing knowledge, supporting staff, and participating in educational and policy development activities.
