Job description

Reporting to the Manager of Neurosurgical Services, you will be responsible for providing quality nursing care to patients, including complex patient populations whose outcomes are not predictable. As part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, you will practice within the Professional Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario, the philosophy of patient and family-centered care, mission, vision, values, and the policies of Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

  • Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, or the ability to become licensed with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current certification in BCLS
  • Recent knowledge in Neurosurgical Nursing
  • Ability to use the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in conjunction with her/his basic and ongoing knowledge to arrive at individualized care planning and delivery
  • Knowledge relevant to surgical nursing practice
  • Ability to identify and recognize abnormal or unexpected patient responses and take appropriate action
  • Ability to manage multiple nursing interventions simultaneously
  • Strong interprofessional and communication skills

In addition, preference will be given to applicants who:

  • Have the Canadian Neuroscience Certification or certification in a recognized Neurology/Neurosurgery Course
  • Have a certification in Wound Care

Salary Range: $39.070 to $56.000
