Job summary

Lions Housing Centres Inc. in Winnipeg is recruiting for a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in a casual position, reporting directly to the Resident Care Manager.

You will deliver safe, quality care using the nursing process, document in the care record, administer medications, and consult with physicians and the interdisciplinary team. This term position may end earlier per the collective agreement and requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check and related clearances.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a nursing license (CRNM/CRPNM/CLPNM) in good standing.
  • Experience in a long-term care setting is an asset.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong decision-making, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to uphold the values of Lions Housing Centres Inc.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in work groups addressing clinical issues.
  • Assist in quality improvement monitoring and audits (restraint audit, resident care audit, chart audit).
  • Act as a resource to Health Care Aides (HCA).

Job Profile: LHC Personal Care Home Inc. is recruiting for a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse - Casual position. This position reports directly to the Resident Care Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Uses the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to deliver safe, quality care.
  • Documents in the health care record
  • Provides direct nursing care including but not limited to administration of medication, monitoring for medication effects and side effects, providing required treatments, and assessment of acute illness or change in status.
  • Consults Physician, Resident Care Manager, on-call Director/Manager, interdisciplinary team members, or external agencies as indicated.
  • Exhibits knowledge in the assessment and management of key gerontology issues as pressure ulcers, delirium, fall prevention, restraint reduction, incontinence, behavior management.
  • Participates in work groups addressing clinical issues.
  • Assist in the monitoring of care by participating in quality improvement monitoring and audit process (restraint audit, resident care audit, chart audit).
  • Acts as a resource to Health Care Aides (HCA).
Your education and qualifications:
  • The successful nursing candidates must hold a nursing license from CRNM/ CRPNM or CLPNM and be licensed and in good standing with their applicable college.
  • Experience in a long-term care setting is an asset.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong decision-making, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and an expressed willingness to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to uphold the values of Lions Housing Centres Inc.

This term position may end earlier as outlined in the collective agreement.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
