One of a network of provincial community health centres, NorWest Community Health Centres is a community based, non-profit organization funded by Ontario Health, emphasizing access to primary health care and disease prevention programs and services.
We are seeking a compassionate, committed individual who will work as part of the interprofessional care team, the focus will be on providing primary health care services to provide support for preventative and health promotion delivery to the "First 5" program to support unattached children. The RN will work collaboratively with other interprofessional team members and service providers, as well as with service users.
This is a newly funded position.
This position has a competitive salary, the Health Care of Ontario Pension Plan and a excellent group health benefit package.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Two or more years of nursing experience in a community settings and or a maternal newborn, pediatric care setting.
- Experience in providing preventative and health promotion services and comprehensive primary health care for children under 5 years of age and their family members who are facing barriers to health and social services.
- Experience working with newcomers and uninsured population.
- Awareness and sensitivity to socio-economic and cultural issues.
- Awareness and sensitivity to health issues particularly within populations who face barriers to accessing care (under housed, living with mental health challenges or diagnoses, current or past substance use, complex health histories, 2SLGBTQIA+, newcomers, non-insured).
- Knowledge of community services and resources; strong advocacy skills.
- Respects and values the diversity of communities and individuals.
- Proficiency in the use of computer technology and various software applications.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle.
Eligible for the Community Commitment Program for Nurses (CCPN) that provides $25,000 in grant funding to eligible nurses in exchange for a 2 year commitment.
The CCPN is now offering two new Northern incentives for nurses who make a two-year commitment to an eligible employer in Northern Ontario. These are:
- A Northern Top-Up Grant of $10,000
- A Northern Relocation Grant of $10,000
