Job summary

ParaMed Home Health Care in Calgary is seeking a Community Supervisor who will oversee Health Care Aides and Nurses delivering care in clients’ homes. You’ll assess, implement, and evaluate clinical interventions to ensure safe, ethical care and compliance with standards.

You will lead teams, conduct regular meetings, support staff development, coordinate documentation with funders, engage patients and families, and drive continuous quality improvement.

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse license in good standing.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of nursing experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to perform patient health assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise HCAs and LPNs to ensure compliance with standards and policies.
  • Lead team through regular huddles and one-on-ones.
  • Investigate patient safety incidents and maintain action plans.
  • Collaborate with nursing team on documentation and reporting.
  • Provide health teaching and build rapport with patients and families.

In this valuable role, the Community Supervisor is accountable for the supervision of Health Care Aides and Nurses who are caring and making a difference for clients within the community. The Supervisor will have the expertise to assess, implement and evaluate a wide range of clinical care interventions to ensure the delivery of safe, quality, and ethical care.

What You’ll Do
  • Supervise and support HCAs and LPNs to ensure practices comply with all legislated standards of practice as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Respond to and advise/resolve concerns from community staff, patients/families, and other team members.
  • Provide ongoing leadership through regular huddles, face to face meetings and one-on-ones.
  • Initiate patient safety incident investigations and documents to ensure timelines and action plans are met.
  • Work collaboratively with nursing team members to support clinical documentation and submission requirements according to specific funder reporting guidelines.
  • Engage patients in problem solving using a collaborative approach, offering health teaching, building rapport and trust to identify patient health care needs, strengths, capacities, and goals.
  • Engage staff in problem solving, offering education, coaching, and mentoring in resolution of problems.
  • Maintain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to provide safe, efficient, effective service in all areas of practice by keeping abreast of changes in practice setting that affect scope of practice.
What You Bring
  • Registration as a Registered Nurse with CRNA in good standing
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a practicing nurse
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
  • Able to provide a current, clear Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS)
  • Comprehensive patient health assessment skills are required
  • Possess an understanding of the principles of community nursing practice
  • Proven experience leading and managing a team
  • Knowledge of clinical documentation standards and practice guidelines is required
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and teaching skills
  • Commitment to professional development in clinical practice that is relevant to home health care
  • Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
