The charge nurse leader is responsible for assessing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating the delivery of safe, effective, patient-centered care during their assigned shift. They facilitate, precept, and mentor staff to support professional growth and skill development. The charge nurse continually assesses unit needs to ensure adequate resources, collaborating with clinical and nonclinical departments to manage admissions, transfers, and discharges efficiently. They demonstrate professionalism, adhere to regulatory and policy standards, uphold practice standards, and hold team members accountable for safe, competent, and quality care, fostering continuous improvement. The Charge Nurse reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.
