Cadet Camp Bagotville 25 June - 20 August

Short term employment. Full & Part-time hours.

Rations and Quarters may be available if required. Language - French.

IT IS AN HONOR TO PROVIDE HEALTHCARE SERVICES FOR THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED, AND TO THOSE WHO CONTINUE TO SERVE OUR COUNTRY.

RNs are responsible for first aid to cadet civilian instructors and onsite civilians. Services are provided on a walk-in basis, including patient history, physical assessment, screening, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, counseling on preventative health, and facilitating access to health services and referrals. The HCP must be available for shifts as scheduled, including weekdays and weekends.

  • Apply policies and procedures for medical services to military and civilian members on site.
  • Assess patients reporting to the clinic.
  • Provide care, urgent treatment, and health information to resolve health issues.
  • Refer complex cases to senior medical staff.
  • Document observations, recommendations, and treatments.
  • Administer OTC medications as qualified and authorized.
  • Follow-up on health issues and communicate with senior staff.
  • Promote hygiene, safety, and disease prevention among camp members.
  • Assist physicians during clinic hours.
  • Review and process cadet medical intake forms and medications, ensuring proper documentation and administration.

The head/charge nurse additionally:

  • Assess patients and determine care levels, including contacting medical directors or transferring patients if necessary.
  • Respond to queries from health professionals, cadet leadership, and medical liaison officers, respecting privacy laws.
  • Supervise and mentor student nurses.
  • Perform other relevant tasks.

The administrative duties include managing communications, documentation, stock management, medication audits, and reporting. The charge/head nurse is responsible for the overall clinic function, reporting, and liaising with medical authorities.

Adherence to Bayshore Policies and Procedures, participation in quality and safety activities, and maintaining confidentiality are mandatory. Successful completion of Police Records Check (PRC)/Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) is required due to work with youth.
