Education / Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and 8 years of relevant experience, including 4 years in insurance assessing risks and claims, including serious injury and complex litigation claims on a national level, OR high school / GED and 10 years of relevant experience with similar insurance background.
- Insurance designation such as Associates in Claims or equivalent is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of workers' compensation, contracts, damages, agency, subrogation, contribution / indemnity insurance, and related laws.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes, and ADP HRIS / Payroll.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and problem resolution skills.
- Ability to listen actively, communicate effectively, and respond tactfully to customers.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.
Physical / Cognitive Requirements
- Ability to follow policies and procedures, read, write, and interpret information.
- Mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide.

General Summary
The Advisor of Risk Management acts as the primary liaison, overseeing carriers, TPAs, vendors, and regulatory agencies, explaining programs, resolving issues, and investigating third-party liabilities. Assists with insurance renewals, certificates of insurance, and other risk management activities.
Responsibilities include:
- Serving as the primary liaison for carriers, TPAs, defense counsel, and vendors; overseeing their performance.
- Managing claims investigations to determine eligibility and compensability within 24 hours.
- Communicating effectively with management, coworkers, providers, and agencies to explain programs and resolve issues.
- Evaluating the risk of potential new business with the sales team.
- Reviewing property structures, safety regulations, and insurance coverage needs.
- Investigating third-party liability and ensuring timely notification.
- Determining and documenting reserve allocations for claims exposure.
- Managing all phases of claims, including responding to discovery and engaging legal counsel.
- Providing training to third-party administrators and internal teams to ensure compliance.
- Conducting claim audits, responding to audits, and acting as a liaison with state agencies.
- Generating reports and analyzing claim data.
- Assisting with renewals, certificates, and other risk management duties.
