Job summary

Shinhan Bank Canada is seeking a Senior Risk Analyst to support ICAAP, ECL policy updates and risk forecasting. The role involves regulatory reporting, stress testing, and governance across risk domains with a focus on accuracy and timely insights.

You will collaborate with CRO and senior management, handling data, analytics and cross-functional projects in a fast-paced banking environment in Toronto. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or risk management-related required.
• 5 years of experience in financial service industry preferred; capital adequacy (BCAR/ICAAP) or IFRS 9 credit provisioning experience is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian stress testing, regulatory compliance (OSFI CAR/LAR), and risk management practices.
• Working experience in risk or financial management with statistical/financial analysis knowledge.
• Excellent research and communication skills; ability to manage multiple projects under deadlines.
• Coding skills in Python or VBA are an asset; CPA/FRM or related designation is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support ICAAP preparation and annual execution, including capital adequacy analysis and projections.
• Update ECL policy and forward-looking PD/LGD analyses with macroeconomic factors.
• Assist in capital, liquidity and IRRBB risk tools and models maintenance.
• Conduct stress testing and scenario analysis for liquidity, credit concentration and interest rate risks.
• Perform quarterly Peer Bank analysis and regulatory risk reporting reviews (BCAR, LCR, NCCF).
• Support data governance, review first-line data submissions and risk controls documentation.
• Prepare analytical reports and risk assessments for CRO and senior management.
• Monitor risk appetite framework limits and investigate material deviations.
• Support Pillar 3 disclosures and annual policy updates across ERM frameworks.
• Contribute to ad-hoc regulatory requests and climate risk calculations when needed.
