Overview

Sony Imageworks Vancouver is seeking a Rigger. The role involves creating 3D character rigs and animation interface controls for skeletal motion systems and body/facial deformations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create 3D character rigs and animation interface controls.
  • Write utility scripts and develop core software tools to streamline the character setup process.
  • Meet schedules and show deadlines.
  • Participate in dailies, rounds, and team reviews of work in progress.
  • Interact with production, supervisors, and team/peers to problem-solve and share information related to show/assigned tasks.
  • Decipher and follow through on work in progress, dailies, briefings/notes, and feedback.
  • Work efficiently as part of a team or independently on rigging projects.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of applicable software platforms including LINUX, UNIX, Maya, Mudbox, shell, and MEL scripting language; Python is a plus.
  • Background or experience in fine art with a thorough understanding of physical motion, weight, balance, and form is highly desired.
  • Most desired: 2-year diploma or 1-year certificate; however, a minimal requirement of 2-3 years of experience is acceptable.
Salary Information
  • The anticipated base salary for an Associate position is $26.44 to $36.32/hr.
  • For an Intermediate position, the salary ranges from $37.50 to $53.80/hr.
  • Benefits are per company policy, which include healthcare, tuition reimbursement, RRSP's, Sick and Vacation leave, and standard increases as applicable.
  • The actual base salary offered will depend on various factors, including qualifications, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and, if applicable, the location of the position.
